All design engagements begin with a Front Door Consultation — a 90-minute working session that defines scope, establishes a realistic budget range, and produces a Project Roadmap you can act on immediately. No commitment to continue. Just clarity.

From there, every project follows the same structured sequence — decisions made in the right order, documentation built to construction standards, and trades briefed before they mobilize. This is how Remodel Fluency™ protects your timeline, your budget, and the integrity of your design.

01—Inquire + Fit Check 

Every project at Snyder Atelier is guided by Remodel Fluency™ — a methodology built on the premise that great design and successful construction are not separate conversations. They are the same one, held from the first consultation through the final walkthrough.

No fee. Takes about 5 minutes.

03—Proposal + Onboarding

If you'd like to move forward, you'll receive a design proposal with defined scope, deliverables, timeline, and fee. Once approved, we finalize the agreement, collect the retainer, and schedule your kickoff.

No surprises. Deliverable is defined before work begins.

05—Selections + Documentation

Finishes, fixtures, and materials are specified for every surface and every trade. Documentation is produced to construction standards — contractor-legible, permit-ready where applicable, and detailed enough that trades can price and build with clarity.

A 90-minute working session — on-site or virtual, your choice — to assess the project, define scope, and establish a realistic budget range by trade. You'll leave with direction. No overwhelm.

Includes:

  • Pre-consultation questionnaire

  • 90-minute session — on-site (San Diego + surrounding areas) or virtual

  • Project Roadmap document delivered within 5 business days

  • Scope definition and priority sequencing

  • Realistic budget range by trade

  • $500 credit applied toward full design services if booked within 14 days.

04—Layout + Design Direction

The functional plan comes first — space planning, layout decisions, and design direction established before any selections begin. This is where the project is resolved on paper, not on the jobsite

Key decisions happen early. That is the point.

06—Construction Support

You hire your contractor and trades. Snyder Atelier provides design guidance, specification clarifications, trade briefings, and decision support to keep the project aligned with the plan through completion.

Available as part of full-scope design or as a standalone Design-Build Support engagement.

Is the Project Consulation required?

Yes. All design projects begin with a Project Consultation so we can define scope, priorities, and next steps before moving into a design proposal.

 

What’s included in the Consultation?

Pre-work questionnaire + a 90-minute Google Meet consultation + a written proposal delivered within 7 days.

 

Can the Roadmap fee be applied to design services?

Yes. You’ll receive a $500 credit toward design services if you book within 14 days of your Roadmap.

What happens after the Consultation?

If you'd like to move forward, you'll receive a design proposal with scope, deliverables, timeline, and fee.

 

How soon can we book?

Consultation availability varies. Booking early is recommended. 

 

Do you offer in-person consultations?

In-person Consultation are available within 20 miles of Point Loma by request.

What is your reschedule/cancellation policy?

  • Appointments may be rescheduled one time.

  • Reschedule/cancel with 48 hours’ notice at no charge.

  • Changes made within 48 hours incur a $250 late fee.

  • Same-day cancellations or no-shows are charged 100% of the fee.

 

Do you manage construction or hire trades?

No—clients hire trades; I provide design guidance, clarifications, and documentation.

 

What if I need help beyond the agreed scope?

Additional scope is billed at $175/hr via approved change order.

 

Do you help with sourcing and purchasing?

Yes. Product sourcing and procurement are available depending on your project needs and timeline.

 

What types of projects are the best fit?

Whole-home remodels, kitchens, bathrooms, and landscape design—especially when you want a clear plan and cohesive selections before construction begins.
